ALLSTAR WEEKEND NEW ALBUM
Cameron from Allstar Weekend has an interesting new video he’s sharing with fans! Can’t really explain to you what is going on, but if you watch it, maybe it’ll come to you. Besides their new music videos, the band announced they are working on a new album! Check out their blog post from lead singer Zach:
Hey everybody. Zacharius here. Sorry I’ve been missing-in-action recently. I’d make an excuse like I was sick or I had some pressing personal issue but I really didn’t. I’m just writing songs and lyrics all the time and I’m kinda detached from everything else right now. Sometimes I go on Facebook or Twitter and start to write something, but I feel like I would bore with you with my life right now. Everyday would be like: @zachallstar Oh just writing a song today. @zachallstar writing another song today, ate some bread too.
I love you guys and it doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten that. I’ll work on being more present in the world. I’m just bad at multitasking. I love All The Way. I think it’s an awesome record that had some un-sorry dot dot dot-esque songs on it that were unique and special. I loved playing them on this last tour for you guys and was really blown away and humbled by the response we got every night. I want to beat All The Way. I want to make a record even better this time around. We’ll be releasing some new songs in between now and a new album but I wanna show you some of the concepts I’ve been working on for the actual album. Tell me what you think. It’s just concepts for lyrics:
Ocean Waves:
Ocean Waves is a song I wrote one evening in like 15 minutes. I’d been writing for days and hadn’t come up with anything. I was sitting with my guitar before dinner and started strumming something completely different from what I’d been working on over the last couple days. I came up with this melody I loved right away. Lyrically, I got the concept when I was in Florida – I think I tweeted something about it: how people grow old and retire in Florida. It’s basically a song about a really serious relationship that you put everything into. To love someone completely you can’t be scared, you just have to take a leap of faith that the feeling is truly mutual. It’s scary but if it works out you can be happy for the rest of your life. It’s a really sad song about a relationship you put everything into, but it didn’t work out. Your dream was different than your partner’s. It’s about feeling like a fool (with your pants on the ground) because you invested so much into the idea of retiring and aging by the ocean waves and now the dream is over. The Ocean Floor (I know the ocean theme is weird, just a coincidence):
The Ocean Floor is a song I started writing one morning on the way to a writing session I had. I was gonna bring the idea to the session for another thing I was working on but I decided to keep it for later. That night after the session I got home and finished the first verse. ”The ocean floor’s for lovers. That’s where I can die with you. Because love’s the anchor sinking us too soon. We’ll fall into the darkness because we can’t resist the blue. Each kiss is sending both of us to our doom.” It sounds kinda of dark. I guess it is kinda dark but it’s weird because the song sounds upbeat. It’s a song about perspective. It’s from the perspective of someone that’s been heartbroken, who is now watching the person who broke his/her heart get heartbroken by someone else. It’s not a “fuck you, now you get yours kinda song.” It’s more or a “welcome to the world of heart break” where I sympathize, yet reveal the bitter side of love to my old lover. One line goes, “now that you’ve been on the other side do you regret passing me by?”
